Director of Prevention

Director of Prevention

Under the general direction of the CAAFA Executive Director, the Director of Prevention is responsible for providing services and programs focusing on and promoting attitudes and behaviors that support the development of healthy, nonviolent relationships. The Director of Prevention’s specific emphasis will focus on children and adolescents, and provides opportunities for children and adolescents to resolve the traumas experienced when family abuse is present in their homes and lives.

Typical Responsibilities and Duties

The creation and implementation of new programs, grant writing, assessment procedures, and budgeting for prevention related efforts.

Facilitate weekly support groups at the Pinal County Youth Justice Center in Florence, for incarcerated youth.

Facilitate weekly support groups at the Apache Junction Unified School District’s Young Parent’s Program, in Apache Junction.

Facilitate weekly children and adolescent support groups, for the children of CAAFA Program Participants, as needed.

Facilitating weekly parent and child support groups, for those residing at the CAAFA Safe Home, as needed.

Provide child/adolescent evaluations and referrals for CAAFA Safe Home residents and other Program Participants, as needed.

Provide and market violence prevention training and education for teachers and other school personal.

Development and implementation of primary prevention services for High School students in Florence, Superior, Queen Creek and Apache Junction. Including presentations in schools, detention centers and other community settings.

Provide group and individual counseling for adolescents in or at risk of abusive relationships

Facilitate adolescent and/or parent support/education groups

Work with youth and community groups in designing and coordinating youth orientated plays/workshops, recreational activities, and community service opportunities

Participate in training of other social service providers, community agencies, schools, community members about the special needs of children/adolescents exposed to domestic abuse, and the risk factors, assets and preventions strategies, that serve this population.

Work collaboratively with school staff and school administrators to assess student needs and facilitate referrals.

Development and distribution of educational and public awareness materials.

Participate in weekly staff meetings and supervision meetings

Complete program evaluations, statistical and program reports, clinical paperwork.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in social welfare, psychology or related field with minimum of 2 years direct service to diverse youth and families. Previous experience may be substituted for educational requirements.

Dependable, self-motivated and experienced in outreach

Experience with youth empowerment and strength-based framework

Knowledge of child development

Experience in teaching/training, resource development, community liaison activities and public speaking.

Experience with individual and family groups, counseling, advocacy and case management.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail.

Good organizational, time management, and record keeping skills

Experience working with multi-cultural populations, and able to engage and maintain supportive relationships with high-risk youth

Community Collaboration Manager

Community Collaboration Manager

Under the general direction of the Director of Prevention, the Community Collaboration Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Prevention with presentations in the community focusing on and promoting attitudes and behaviors that support the development of healthy, nonviolent relationships specifically targeting adolescents. In addition, the Community Collaboration Manager provides professional partnership development and coordination, liaison work with the community, and supervision of CAAFA’s community targeted services, Safe Home Network, as well as other duties as assigned.

Typical Responsibilities and Duties
Prepare and deliver presentations to youth in schools and detention centers.

Assist Director of prevention in facilitation of support groups for children and adolescents.

Establish contact with various community entities that serve diverse populations.

Develop appropriate relationships between CAAFA and community entities, including development of Memorandums of Understanding.

Provide ongoing support for established relationships with community partners.

Coordinate the development, activities and facilitation of regular Safe Home Network meetings.

Enlist the participation of a broad cross-section of organizations and residents from Northern Pinal County and Arizona in CAAFA’s Safe Home Network.

Responsible for program management of CAAFA’s Safe Home Network, and attaining established goals.

Represent CAAFA at various community meetings and events.

Attend and participate in local and State meetings relevant to domestic and family violence issues as needed.

Prepare and submit progress reports for CAAFA’s Executive Director.

Accountability to: Director of Prevention in coordination with Executive Director

Minimum Education Requirements
Hold a Bachelor in Social Work or a closely related field and possess relevant experience in social services, community work, and group facilitation. Previous experience may be substituted for educational requirements.

Advocate - F/T & P/T available

Under the direction of the Director of Services, the Domestic Violence Advocate is responsible for providing case management services to residential and community program participants.

Typical Responsibilities and Duties

• Respond to the crisis line and program participant line, which includes screening for eligibility to the shelter, completing intakes, making referrals as needed/requested, and other related duties.

• Provide crisis intervention services to women and children in a residential setting and in the community as needed.

• Conduct danger/safety assessment, explore safety options, and develop safety plans with community and residential program participants.

• Provide education and information about domestic violence, victim’s rights and resources, the impact of violence on self and children, and other domestic violence related topics.

• Cultivate and participate in collaborative partnerships with community agencies.

• Provide ongoing outreach and participate in linking across service organizations of varied systems and disciplines to enhance services provided to victims of domestic violence and their families.

• Perform case management including the collaborative creation of and follow-up of Individualized Service Plans, utilizing the Strengths Based Model.

• Assist clients to link with needed services including, safe housing and shelter, legal aid, immigration assistance, assistance with restraining orders, child custody and child support, child care, medical and mental health services, emotional support, and other services as needed.

• Work cooperatively with other agencies that provide services to victims of domestic violence and other social service agencies.

• Facilitate shelter meetings and offer educational presentations in the shelter setting.

• Provide assistance with resolving conflicts within the residential setting.

• Ensure that all shelter residents have needed supplies for personal hygiene, meals, clothing, and/or housekeeping.

• Ensure that shelter is maintained including shelter repairs.

• Facilitate and/or assist with shelter tours.

• Coordinate donation and volunteer projects.

• Maintain program participant files in accordance with legal and licensing requirements, complete all intakes, data entry into Shelter Base program, progress notes, and/or closures during scheduled shift.

• Oversee the assignment and completion of chores.

• Attend all regularly scheduled meetings and trainings as required.

• Participate in departmental team meetings when necessary.

Perform tasks requested by the Director of Services such as organizing office and/or storage areas, reviewing and revising materials, literature, and general paperwork, monitoring and maintaining shelter calendar of events, making announcements and updates when necessary.

Minimum Education Qualifications

Associates degree or two (2) years work experience, paid or volunteer, in the field of social sciences, preferably in the area of domestic violence. Additional related work experience may substitute for education requirement.
